A new big money game show its on its way. Read all about Lucky 13 and how you can apply inside!

UPDATE: Per Deadline, ABC has confirmed it has picked up Lucky 13 for a summer run. Shaquille O’Neal and Gina Rodriguez host. Kevin Bacon is executive producer.

It’s been quite some time since we’ve had a big money primetime game show and a long-in-the-works game looks like it’s finally happening. Casting notices have been going out for the show Lucky 13, which asks a pair of contestants to answer true/false questions for a shot at a $1,000,000 jackpot.

Lucky 13 was first announced in 2022 and it comes from the people who introduced the world to Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Producing the show and potentially hosting is Kevin Bacon.

How does the show work? We previously saw the pilot so the rules may change for the actual aired version. But the pilot saw four couples play for up to $1,300,000. A qualifying true/false question is asked and the fastest right answer plays the Lucky 7 round. Lucky 7 consists of seven true/false questions under a timer. Each right answer is worth more money, from $1,000 and up to $20,000 for a perfect 7. Contestants are asked to predict how many they think they got right before their answers are revealed, and a right answer adds a $10,000 bonus.

After two couples play, the team with more money can choose to keep their money or give it up to play Lucky 13 and play for the jackpot. If they don’t play, the other team is forced to play. Lucky 13 plays the same as Lucky 7, but the contestants are asked to predict how many answers they got right. If they bid correctly they win the money they reached (up to $1.3M for all 13). If they don’t, they get nothing. The pilot’s money chain looked like this.

1-3 – $5,000
4-6 – $15,000
7-9 – $25,000
10-12 – $100,000
13 – $1,300,000

If the team does not bid for 13, they can guess an exact number within the range for a bonus $25,000. Throughout the round the team may be offered cash to end the game and not reveal if they’ve won.
