Lingo Revival Announced for CBS with RuPaul Hosting

Lingo is finally coming back to America!

It took a viral game to make it happen but the classic word game Lingo is coming back to television! Per Vulture’s Joe Adalian CBS has picked up a new version Lingo. This revival will be hosted by RuPaul. RuPaul is outrageously talented so this is exciting news to begin with but given Lingo‘s history of people like Chuck Woolery and where they’ve ended up in life…this could not have been scripted better.

Joe is reporting that the show will be hitting around late spring/early summer and based on the UK version. This would imply no bingo aspect so set your expectations early.

Lingo first aired in America in 1987, last one season in syndication. Its biggest success came from the Game Show Network version which aired between 2002 to 2007 with one further season in 2011 (that one is best left unmentioned). The format came back into the spotlight over the past year with a successful new British version on ITV hosted by Adil Ray and, of course, Wordle.

Casting is underway and there’s word this may tape on the UK sets so stay tuned for more info.
