Fan-Run Game Show Marathon Rides Again This Weekend
The live telethon starts June 6 at Noon Eastern on GameShowMarathon.com.
The 13th (wow) 24-Hour Game Show Marathon returns for another record-breaking year! Watch as your favorite BuzzerBlog staff members (sorry Matt, maybe next year?) hole up in a TV studio in Philadelphia to raise $10,000 to Child’s Play.
Child’s Play is an international charity which delivers therapeutic games and technology directly to pediatric hospitals to improve patients’ lives through the power of play. Game show fans around the world have helped provide Child’s Play with at least 1% of Ken Jennings’ original Jeopardy! winnings to Child’s Play ($50,000 raised just for Child’s Play; that guy won a ton of money, jeez) and they’re looking to raise another $10,000 this weekend.
They’re not just sitting around playing the video game versions of these games, oh no—they’ve been programming, designing graphics, writing trivia, renting kitchens, infiltrating amusement parks, buying pizza cutters, decorating poster board and more to bring you faithful (ish) recreations of these game shows you know and love, played by a rag-tag group of friends, comedians and more.
If you want to know what games they’ll be playing, you can head to GameShowMarathon.com to learn more, and if you want to donate, go to GameShowMarathon.com/donate today. Your tax-deductible donation goes straight to Child’s Play to help them help sick kids more and betterer. (We’ve been doing a lot of prep work so our grammar is shot. Make this all worth it and donate today!)
