Joe Buck Set To Host ESPN Jeopardy!
The Monday Night Football play-by-play commentator will be hosting a brand new sports trivia show on Hulu and Disney+.
Jeopardy! is getting yet another spin-off. ESPN Jeopardy! is a sports trivia show that will be available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+. Joe Buck has been confirmed as the host of the show, which will be taped on the Alex Trebek Stage like the syndicated version of Jeopardy!. A premiere date has yet to be announced.
The new spin-off will feature ESPN personalities as the contestants. They’ll compete in a tournament format, and the champion will receive a $500,000 grand prize for their charity of choice. The show’s material is said to be focused on “ESPN content,” which presumably means they’ll have exactly one clue about baseball per season.
ESPN Jeopardy! is the second sports-themed spinoff of the classic game show. Sports Jeopardy! premiered in 2014, and it aired for 3 seasons on the now-defunct streaming service Crackle. This show was hosted by Dan Patrick, and it featured civilian contestants as opposed to sports personalities.
With the upcoming premiere of ESPN Jeopardy!, Joe Buck will be returning to the franchise for the first time since 2021. He previously appeared as a guest host on the syndicated version of Jeopardy! following the death of Alex Trebek. He hosted five episodes in the middle of Matt Amodio’s 38-game winning streak.

Buck is best known for his sportscasting work. He’s currently the play-by-play announcer on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, and he previously did MLB and NFL commentary on Fox. In his career, he’s called six Super Bowls, as well as nearly every World Series from 1996 to 2021. He only missed the 1997 and 1999 series, which aired on NBC rather than Fox.
Michael Davies has been the executive producer of Jeopardy! since 2021, and he’s also known for being a big sports fan. In fact, he’s stated that he believes that Jeopardy! itself is a sport, which is an idea that many fans of the show have pushed back against. In January, Davies appeared on the show’s podcast Inside Jeopardy!, where he described a new sports-themed spin-off as his “biggest New Year’s hope.”
Ever since Davies became the executive producer, he’s overseen a wide variety of new tournaments and spin-offs. Celebrity Jeopardy!, Jeopardy! Masters, and the Jeopardy! National College Championship have all premiered on ABC since Davies took the helm. Pop Culture Jeopardy! premiered in 2024 on Amazon Prime Video, but it’s moving to Netflix for its upcoming second season. In addition to all the shows available on TV and streaming services, Jeopardy! YouTube Edition was recently uploaded to the show’s YouTube channel as well. In addition to all of that, several new tournaments have been added to the syndicated version of the show, namely the Second Chance competition, Champions Wildcard, and the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament.
